What Can We Expect from Android 5.0?

The next major release that will take the Android fans by storm is going to be Android 5.0 OS. It is believed that the dessert theme code for the OS is going to begin with letter ‘L’, maybe named as Lemon Cheesecake. As there is no official news from the developers yet, there are lot of speculations in the smartphone industry and Android users are thronging web to find out more about the next major update.

A glimpse of Android Version 5.0 will possibly be revealed in October this year, exactly a year after KitKat was introduced in the market. The updated OS will start rolling out from February 2015 in almost all the newly launched devices. Much to the annoyance of Android fans the updates on Android are still coming at a slow pace. The 0.1 upgrade or improvements are merely for tweaking or modifying but they don’t guarantee any new and exciting features.

The latest Nexus, be it 5 or 6 or 10 is most likely to be the first device to get updated with the new OS as these devices are coming with a guaranteed updated. HTC is also one such device manufacturer that will make its new devices available for the latest OS Release. Samsung Note devices will also follow the suit and will get the latest update.

New Features

It is believed that Google’s cross platform service and app is coming in the new update. This app will integrate various chat services including Messenger, Voice, Talk, Hangouts and Plus etc. If rumors are to be believed than this app will be given the name Babble.

Google is also planning to integrate more fitness features in the update so that the users can harness the fitness data from sensors to the device. Therefore, the user can expect better synch with Google Glass or smart watches etc.

As no major modifications have been done to the TouchWiz interface since long, do expect some powerful and new features in the next UI. The dialer is one of the things that will see a change in the look. There will be more use of blue and light grey colors.

Another new update that may feature in Android 5.0 is the “Never Update” option in your Android device. There is a sect of people who do not wish to use the update option as they get used to the current Android version. Thus, in Android 5.0 you may choose the option to stick to the current version. Android is a popular technology and has got a fan base increasing at a rapid pace. Seeing the features of Android phones, you will definitely say I want that phone.
