Full Specifications Of The LG Optimus L7

The LG Optimus L7 is the latest smartphone in the L-Style range.  It is LG’s attempt to keep up with the likes of Apple and Samsung.  It runs on Ice Cream Sandwich, which is one of the most advanced Android platforms on the market today.  But is it enough to beat the giants?  Let’s take a look at what we love and hate, as well as some other interesting details.

What We Love and Hate

We love the design of this phone.  It is big, reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy devices, and it is very thin and sleek.  We also love the camera and you can’t get away from the fact that it runs on the latest version of Android, meaning it is fully up to date.  However, its performance is poor to say the very least.  The battery life is shocking (it won’t last a day) and the storage is very low.  Overall, not a very good phone in other words, unless you simply want to look at it.

A Review

The phone has been around for nearly a year now.  When it was first released, they hoped it would compete with the iPhone and the Samsung, but it was immediately placed with the lower to mid-level phones, like the Sony Xperia U and the HTC One V.  Clearly, the phone was an epic fail from start to finish.  A good attempt at making something nice, but not enough thought went into it and LG simply doesn’t have the right technology to compete with the real high end phones.

The Build

We can’t knock the phone for its looks and it is clear that LG hoped enough people would buy the phone before realising it wasn’t very good.  Obviously, this plan failed.  They really should have seen that coming, since the phone may be gorgeous in look, but it isn’t original.  In fact, it looks just like the Galaxy S2.  That’s risky business, because Samsung is a rival that has been sued for patent infringement themselves, and they may just return the favour by picking on a different manufacturer like LG.

It seems, however, that Samsung has let this one slip.  After all, the build quality of the LG isn’t amazing anyway.  It’s stylish, in the same way as Top Shop creates stylish clothes.  Samsung, on the other hand, is more like Louis Vuitton.

Those of us who like to support the underdog, and who believe fair competition can only exist in a market with many competitors really wanted to give LG the thumbs up, but it is just so hard.  It looks great, but it performs so poorly that some would argue it shouldn’t even be compared to the middle to low-end phones, but that it should just sit squarely with the low end phones.  Naturally, the price doesn’t reflect this, which is another problem.  LG have since started to drop their prices on this device to make it more interesting, but is it enough?

About Author: Laura Ginn really wanted a Samsung Galaxy, any model, but there is no way she would be able to afford that.  Opting for the LG Optimus L7 instead seemed to be the next best thing, but now she is looking for a different model via uSwitch.com.
