Infographics: Great Career Opportunities for Ethical Hackers

Have you ever considered ethical hacking? This field is exploding with opportunity, and the US government is desperately in need of hackers. If you want to make at least $50,000 or more with an entry-level position, then it’s time to put your computer science skills to the test and see if you are good enough to work for Uncle Sam.

Expanding Opportunity

Cybersecurity is a major niche that needs to be filled. In 2010, private industries and the Department of Homeland Security needed about 20,000 cybersecurity experts. The problem is that only 1,000 were available. This has gotten slightly better in the last few years, but there are still many positions that need to be filled.

Education

If you want a job in any other computer science field, then you often need a six-year degree or doctorate to even qualify. This isn’t the case with ethical hacking because the need is so great. Having a four-year degree is often enough. Many government positions don’t even require formal education. If you are self-taught and can demonstrate your skills, then you can qualify for a high-paying position.

Income

Hacking for the government is a lucrative career. Most people will make about $50,000 to $60,000 a year from the very beginning. After 10 years, your salary should go up to about $80,000 to $90,000 a year. You might even be able to make over $100,000 a year if you have enough experience and skill for a higher position.

Learning to Hack

While some high schools have advanced computer science classes, most ethical hackers must be self-taught before moving to a college atmosphere. The good news is that there are several online schools and outlets for you to learn coding.

Job Security

Unlike many other careers that fade away for one reason or another, it’s unlikely that ethical hacking will disappear any time soon. Cyber terrorism is only becoming more common, and ethical hackers are needed to stop this threat. If you want a good career that you can count on for many years, then ethical hacking fits the bill.

The government desperately needs ethical hackers, which gives you a great career opportunity. If you are good at coding and hacking, then you can get a good job with many benefits.
