Not very long ago, when [p2p type=”slug” value=”infographics-craziest-things-can-cell-phones”]cell phones[/p2p] were initially introduced, these devices were only meant for making or receiving voice calls. Very few of us would have imagined in the first half of 1980s to send text messages over the phone. In 1990s we were able to send messages, listen to our favorite songs, and store some data on our cellular devices. By the start of 21st century we witnessed incorporation of other devices such as camera, audio recorders, and Bluetooth and infrared technologies. This was the time when folks started to believe that there are endless possibilities and what they discovered is mere tip of a huge iceberg. A video shows, in detail, the evolution of cell phones starting from 1983 to 2014.
The beginning of the twenty first century was the time when people started to think of cellular phones as their companions. This was when big guns jumped in. Seeing the endless possibilities and recognizing people’s interest, they decided to dedicate more resources to explore the unseen. After the inclusion of captioning, and data transferring technologies WAP Browsing became integrated with the cell phones. It opened a whole new domain for the progress.
With the increase in internet bandwidth and speed, new features for cell phones became viable. It became easier for people to send and receive emails, stay connected with their friends, and perform some of their routine work on the go on their handheld devices. The introduction of mobile apps on major platforms, such as iOS, Android, and Blackberry brought a whole new flair to the use of modern day devices. People now could share their thoughts, get notification about their friends and family on social media, play high quality games over the internet, and complete their assignments on their devices carried in their pockets. This also reduced the dependency on computers. Now the mobiles are not only meant for calling purposes, there is a lot more that could be done on these devices.
All of this happened in a very short span of three decades. It all started up in 1983 with big, heavy, and bulky machines with very little features associated with them to smart, stylish, and beautiful companions with a hell of features.
